It was great hearing our guest speaker (and my good friend), Dr. Young Kim. I thought his insights and encouragements were very relevant to being a grad student at U-M, because he himself completed his MA and Ph.D. from U-M and went through many of the same challenges and experiences as those in the audience. I appreciated being able to spend part of a day with good friends away from the rigors of my daily schedule. Grad students routinely say they want “balance” in life, but seldom make time to achieve it. The gradCRU Getaway encouraged me spiritually and gave me opportunity to further my friendships.
The Getaway was a fabulous day, once again. Thank you to all who planned the day and contributed! I really enjoyed hearing the speaker, Young Kim, speak and getting to know him a bit. The Getaway was particularly powerful for me this time because the calm atmosphere, good fellowship and inspiring teachings gave me the time to reflect on my own walk with God. I had felt disconnected from God in the last couple weeks without understanding the reason. During the Getaway the reason hit me all of a sudden during one of the talks. The time at the Getaway was refreshing and a good start into the semester.
