English Speaking Club (ESC)

The English Speaking Club (ESC) meets Thursdays in the Center Room in Pierpont Commons on North Campus from 4:30 pm to 5:30 pm. Come early (anytime after 4:15 pm) for the ESC Mixer so you can meet new people and start conversations. Join with other International and English-speaking graduate students to practice your English conversation skills. We discuss in groups American English idioms and slang, American culture and holidays, and even presentation and job interview skills. We have great fun together at the ESC Meetings and at the ESC Parties in American homes. The ESC starts again Thursday afternoon, September 9, 2010.

All U-M Master, Ph.D. and Professional School graduate students are welcome to participate in the ESC, and Post-Docs and Visiting Scholars, too. Invite your friends to come with you. The English Speaking Club (ESC) is a free service of GradCru. There is no obligation, expectation, or pressure to be involved in any other activities or events that GradCru offers. Because many who are involved with the ESC are interested, a few times each semester we do inform the entire ESC about the other opportunities that GradCru offers. Bible Study Plus+ Groups

Bible Study Plus+ Groups are now forming for the fall semester for men and women. All American and International U-M graduate students, Post-Docs, and Visiting Scholars are welcome. Some of the groups from last year will be starting again in the next couple weeks and may have openings for new people to join them. And new groups will start in early September (or throughout the fall) as more and more graduate students express interest. Best way is to ask a friend to join a group with you. Fall Semester

We are excited for another year together. These next couple weeks before the fall semester begins we are planning and scheduling events and opportunities. So check this website often because we’ll update it every couple days with new things for the fall and year ahead. If you are new to U-M, welcome. Fall Day Retreat: Saturday, Oct 2

We are thrilled to have Randy Newman as our guest speaker for the Fall GradCru Day Retreat, scheduled for Saturday, October 2, 2010. Randy earned his Master of Divinity from Trinity Evangelical Divinity School and currently is working on his Ph.D. in Intercultural Studies (Cultural Anthropology, Education). He also has authored two books, including the well received, Questioning Evangelism: Engaging People’s Hearts the Way Jesus Did.
